At Balanced Bodies we teach Hatha (Ha ta) Yoga. The most ancient and most recognized type of yoga in the US. Hatha Yoga includes physical exercise, mental focus, and for some it can boost their spirituality no matter the religious affiliation or lack thereof. If you are already turned off by this I suggest you continue reading and if by the end you're still not sure yoga is for you feel free to send me an email.
- Do you want a healthy body? Yoga postures can create the perfect balance between strength and flexibility. Studies show that people who practice yoga are stronger, more flexible, and have better posture than those who don't practice yoga. Yogis also have better balance and lung capacity. Basically a healthy yoga body keeps you young. Not weak, stiff, crooked, clumsy, and breathless like elderly people that do not have a healthy yoga practice.
- What about a peaceful mind? There is a reason that yoga attracts all types of people, from athletes, to office workers, business owners, and stay at home moms. In yoga we practice bringing our attention to the now. Staying in the moment. You may feel less stressed and more relaxed after doing yoga. Some yoga styles use meditation techniques that help calm the mind. Focusing on your breathing during yoga can do that, too.
- The spirituality part of yoga can be as simple as having a thankful, happy heart. In yoga we practice gratitude. First for ourselves and then for others. We remind ourselves that you cannot fill from an empty vessel. For some it is a practice of devotion to themselves or to their God. Yoga is a practice that keeps you healthy, happy, and whole.
Try incorporating all three of these into your daily life and before you know it, you will have a well-balanced yoga practice. Move, breathe, set intention to your actions, be present, be thankful, and give yourself the gift of yoga. If you are looking to gain strength or flexibility, mental toughness or clarity, peace or happiness, Yoga is by far the best way to discover how amazing you truly can be.
